Week Seven Round-Up

Good afternoon, Nation.

Before we get down to business, I have to pimp something.  The Lost Ninja has started a gallery of anti-Hanso art. (It's on the top-right of the page)  There's a few Ninja themed pieces there, but my silhouette is sadly absent.  Does anyone want to remedy this?

I thought so. ;)

Anyway, back to the grind.  It's Thursday, which means it's time for another Hitchhiker's reference.

First, a special thanks to TLEC.  I took crappy  notes this week and they're "Clue #" set-up helped me refresh my bad memory.  And thanks again to Vik from Sydney for the LEP images.

The week started off, with of course, a hack from Persephone.  But it wasn't just ANY hack, it was the mother of all hacks.  It really ended with a BANG!  You see, the Hanso Foundation finally decided to shut down its website!  We were right in the middle of the thing when suddenly P was cut off.

Crap!  I skipped something.  I made this big deal about a hack, then I totally forgot.  This is bad blogging, like my dad telling a joke, "Oh wait, back up, I forgot to tell you the cowboy rode a BLUE horse."  Anyway, i don't know if you still wanna hear about it, but here it goes:

Persephone's page updated.  There was a picture of several items.  If you took the first letter of each item and wrote it down on paper, it anagramed out to "RECLUSE."  The items were:

Recorder
Envelope
Card
Lipstick
Umbrella
Scissors
Eraser

At the Life Extension Project page, if you clicked on "mortality,"  a password box would appear.  Entering the word "recluse" began the hack.  A bit of the ways through, it asked for the name, "Zander."  Then it all ended - the site was SHUTDOWN! (Insert DJ Dan shutdown noise.)

We were left wondering, "what next?"  That is, until a video appeared.  There was a new player in town.

Rachel Blake.

"Oh, so you're saying her name now, huh?"  Okay, here's the story.  Ninja told me that a video leaked giving out P's true identity.  I couldn't get the link to work, but I listened to his description.  I freaked, told him not to post it and started damage control.  (No, not the best idea - I know that now.)   We had just seen the Hanso Foundation stop her from hacking and I was worried about her safety.  If they found out her identity, they'd surely silence her.

Besides, Persephone revealing her identity would be like, oh . . . I don't know . . . Spider-Man revealing his!   She'd never do it!

I did my best to hide P's supposed identity until Monday when we got a link in the source code of the now defunct Hanso site.

About this time, persephone's page updated again.  This time with an upside-down girl and creepy music.  Over the music you could hear ASCII code, "101 118 105 100 101 110 116 32 97 103 101 110 100 97"  Backwards, it translates to, "evident agenda."  Entering this into the "Extra Info" box on the Rachel Blake travel blog takes you to her SECRET blog! (shhh!)

I went, and there it was:  the video!  And this time in quicktime! 

I watched it, finally, and then proceeded to yell at Ninja.  "You're full of it!"  I said.  "That's not Persephone!"  But he was being stubborn.  He was certain P equals Rachel. 

Well, I wasn't buying it.

We argued a long time about it.  It got venomous.  So much so that it degraded into "Yo Momma" flaming - publicly.  I fear this may be a feud that goes on so long we'll forget why it all started.

Actually, Rachel could very well be Persephone, I'm just keeping an open mind, you know, just in case.  I don't think we've seen the last of P, but I also think this Rachel girl could be someone new.  And I'm sorry about  this past weekend, I thought it was best for our cause.  We all make mistakes.  According to her site, the video DID accidental get out early, but that doesn't excuse me. At least she's upped her security since then.

Back on the SHUTDOWN Hanso site, things aren't as SHUTDOWN as we thought.  If you keep your cursor still, you hear sound.  Not moving your cursor for 108 seconds makes a piece of a URL appear.  If you add it to the end of http://www.thehansofoundation.org, it takes you to a new DHARMA video.

The same day, an interesting video popped up on youtube.  It was about DJ Dan and mentioned citizen Maestra48.  People wondered WHAT it could mean.  In the end, it ended up being another "JustWillow" situation.  People thought Maestra knew things, but in fact, she just talked with the guy for a bit and he mentioned her as a true believer.

Same thing happened when Kate talked to one of the Retrievers of Truthiness.  She was mentioned too, but the guy did it more subtely so it went unnoticed by most.

Try talking to these guys, Nation.  You might end up mentioned in a youtube video also!

From here on out, we get SLAMMED with information.  I'm not gonna regurgitate ALL of it, so go READ RACHEL'S BLOG!  There's stuff about the Black Rock, the GWC, and even a racy affair.  I will hit the high points, though.

It was found here, at broadband stories.  It's title is "The Ultimate Journey."  Click on it and watch how cute she looks in a Pizza Delivery outfit.  (I'm sorry, she's got this whole "geek vibe!"  I can't help crushing!)

Then after a new DJ Dan and MORE info, today we got something different:

An audio file.

This one was hidden in Australia.  You have to click "reply" to any message, then click on the "objectionable comment" link to the right.  It takes you to a log-in.

Dr. Mittelwerk is speaking Korean with someone.  The first translation was from Mochi's girlfriend, Ari.  But THE WOLFE got a better translation from a co-worker.

I KNOW! I'm shocked too!  WOLFE was actually HELPFUL!  (I kid.)

But Rachel picked Kwon Young-Su's translation as the most likely version.  It's only slightly different, but here it is in full:

MITTELWERK:  Minsu,  so great to see you.

MINSU: Dr. Mittelwerk.  Good to see you too.  Mr. Paik sends his warmest regards.

MITTELWERK: He's just saying that because we've paid him so much money.

MINSU:  Ah.  I see that it's straight to business.

MITTELWERK:  As always. 

MINSU: I think you'll be pleased to hear your ship is almost ready; with all the modifications. But I have to warn you - this kind of ship can't dock  just anywhere.

MITTELWERK: We have a port.  How long will it be?

MINSU: I'd say no sooner than three weeks.

MITTELWERK: Could you pass the pepper? So what will it take to make it 2 weeks?

And thus endeth the week!  My digital watch is telling me it's time for lunch, so I'm going to go move around some small green pieces of paper in hopes of obtaining mass quantities of sustenance.  Have a great day.
