Anyway, Lostie456, Locke chose the knife not the compass, IIRC. And Alpert was a bit upset when he did, or looked a bit frustrated or worried about the choice. Maybe because he knew what was coming, and was hoping for some change to prevent it.
Or I could be wrong, I just seem to remember him passing over the compass, although he did pause on it. I think he may have even picked it up, but he finally chose the knife, and Alpert asked if he was sure.
Locke picked the jar of sand (the island?), the compass, and then as his third item selected the knife. My recollection of that scene was that Alpert asked which of the items was his -- but he wasn't specific that it was a single item....
Well anyway, for the record -- the compass was never Locke's. Richard gave it to him to give back to Richard. So I'd say that Locke failed because none of the items he coveted were truly his.
New intro on the Ajira site, mentions checking out destination destiny with flights from LAX to Guam & Indonesia. Tried the same booking as before to get a ticket but states flights are all booked....Any one else having any joy?
Im sure there must be something further to pull from this...
seeing Charles Widmore on the island in the 50's was a real aha moment as well as the revelation that Richard has always been on the island. So, does Widmore trump Linus?

Another little funny quirk to all of this, Id presume Jim from Neighbours, uh hum i mean widmore is now in his late 50's off island in 2007 but id definately say he was mid 20's in his role on island back in 1954.....wouldnt that make him like 70-80ish off island? Or does that just give us a clue that maybe he doesnt get booted from the island untill he's well into his forties jumping into the early 90's timeline??
I actually took him to be 18-20. I could not locate the age of the actor who played young Charles but the actual age of the actress who played Elle is 19.
Even so, give or take 5 years, theres definately a time gap jumped when he's booted from the Island or Widmore just looks exceedingly good for his age. Dharma protein shakes must really work wonders...
Sawyer seeing Kate in this ep has inspired me .....
when the losties get back my view is that the islanders will be so reluctant to interact with people during the time blips that one will result in being in real time with Kate being visible to Sawyer only for him not to want to affect time by interacting only for a further blip to occur with Kate remaining stood there which will reunite the o6 and the other losties.
I know what I mean but not sure I have wrote this clearly or not JNL do you get my drift on this one
Hi J btw been a long time
apologies for the lack of a remotely sanely structured sentance but the exciting of that potetially happening would be gold I tell you!!!
Daz, I get exactly what you mean. I never thought that one of the "Left Behinders" (specifically Sawyer or Locke) would possibly see Kate or Jack and assume that they flashed to a previous event even though it was the real deal.
Is that what you meant?
How in the world do you stay away for 3 3/4 days to keep spoiler free? It would kill me.
Also, we have another brit import in a new movie. Isla Fisher in "Confessions of a Shopaholic". Great job of hiding her accent. Personally I always dream of her red hair AND brit accent ;)
used to be in the australian soap opera home and away.....she is married to sacha baron cohen though.
regards my theory yes that what I meant.
Sawyer has seen Kate but something held him back from interacting with her.....which makes me think that when they do meet again (if) then they will never believe what the see expecting another blip to wipe it away again.
cue big swooping score and the dawning realisation that what Sawyer actually sees is real as day turns to night maybe sunset (would set the scene better me thinks)
Whoops - I should have know better because I knew the soap was down under.
Loving new season also. Too amny friends complaining that they cannot keep up. I am have very few issues. They usually give an immediate clue as to what time-frame. If not immediate, then the "when" becomes the plot point. Like when they flashed 2 the hatch being lit up, that was the first indication. But when they moved to the ransacked beach, you immediately know it is "the future" because the place was ransacked and all beer consumed.
*First*
Holy cow! err... Tiger!
Looks like the reincarnate Oceanic is on the way...

I will fly Ajira Airways if they promise me the pilot is the same guy who landed the plane in the Hudson.
... Or if they promise to put Kate in the seat next to me...

Lectric,
I totally forgot he passed the compass when he picked the knife. Looks like the 4 times I re-watched seasons 1-4 last off-season didn't help... :)

so...
sawyer's group won't want to interact with the o6.
they'll get to real time, sawyer will see kate but not talk to her.
and then time will change.
but kate will still be there...
as in, Kate & the other o6 will then be traveling in time with Sawyer and Sawyer's group will realize they are back.
I think I understand! =D
And all will be good and Locke will go and be alive again, and all kinds of stuff.
Haha. =]

no idea on that part but think it would be a good set piece way of reunting in a decent manner to fit with the blips.
I think all the original people around during the island moving will essentially be the islands constant,
stoppng the blips when the o6 and others are reunited.
I am absolutely loving this season so far...although Sayid cant serious move that quick??? can he or did he have a miniature time blip !! (:
